We have known Ron Gollehon and his wife, Kimberly, for many years and have traveled with them throughout many parts of the world.

We have invested with them in real estate in the United States and most recently in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico in 2006, after traveling to Mazatlan to meet them and view the investment potential on La Isla in Marina Mazatlan. We are partners and stock owners with Ron Gollehon and Kim Gollehon in Grupo Summerlin, S.A. de C.V.

As he has done with our investments in the United States, Ron Gollehon has been a very thoughtful and hard working managing partner. He has always kept us updated on all information and we trust him entirely with our money invested.

For Manuel Cristerna to spread rumors, because that is all they are, that Mr. Gollehon has not honored his contracts and has treated his investment partners unfairly is a total lie. We know the truth and the officials in Mazatlan and Sinaloa should also know the truth.

I, Cosmin Danila, am an accomplished photographer and Manuel convinced me to let him use some of my photography work of La Isla for their commercial use in promoting La Isla. I am truly sorry I allowed that, as we do not want to be associated with this person who has harmed so many people, and it appears he continues to do so.

In our opinion, Manuel Cristerna belongs in jail. He and his partners are no better than common thieves. They have stolen all of our business associates and our money invested in homes and condominiums on La Isla. We do not understand why Marina Mazatlan nor the politicians in Sinaloa and Mazatlan do not do something about Sr. Cristerna’s continuing fraud against us foreigners. It brings shame to those of us who trusted that our money would be safe in Mexico.

As we understand it, Cristerna is double and triple selling our homes and condominiums, and also renting our property to unsuspecting people.

THE THEFT AND FRAUD CONTINUES...ON & ON

Hello all,
We just returned from MAZ; although we stayed at the Mayan Palace (one of our timeshare resorts) we visited our other resort Playa Maria.
We requested an owner's update since we were in Maz. We were shocked to learn that Playa Maria is no longer; the owners have declared bankrupt and another company purchased Playa Maria and renamed it Crown Marina Golf Resort within the last 2-3 weeks. We received no notice prior to traveling to Maz.
The new owners have declared all the contracts void unless you are willing to pay additional money to "renew" your contract with the new owners.
We had paid our maintenance fees for the life of the previous contract & paid off our loan with Playa Maria. The Salesman name Frank kept saying we are going to honor your contract; however in order to keep our ownership with Crown Marina Golf Resort and not lose the money that we had paid in, we had to pay extra money.
Per Frank, he stated letters will be sent to all the owners. Owners, you will be surprised to learn of the new changes.

Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone else is having difficulties sending emails to Carlos. I've tried all 3 email addresses and they've been returned. I'm hoping that the email is down.

The Playa Maria distribution list if for Playa Maria Owners (aka Torrenza). The Villas Coral are not a part of PM at this time. They were the former owners (Crown Bay, Grand Bay).
Actually, their appears to be a dispute over ownership but at this time it is the COVI group, not the Villas Corals (Jose Manuel). At least that is our understanding.
We are now at Playa Maria and the only email for Carlos we have is Carlos_galindo@hotmail.com. They are not confirming reservations for next year. Anyone with confirmed reseravation for this year (those made last year) are being accepted - I am not aware of anyone being turned away and we have been here a month.

I was there for a week in February, 2009, surprized to find the name change when stopping by to check on things. Wanted to pay my 2009 maintenance fee, and that's when I got the update: new owners, increase in maintenance fees, and a one time assessment of $950. While researching my file with the manager, he could find no record of the past two years maintenance fees paid. He indicated that this was the case with many of the owners and that the prior owner had taken the funds, and was now in jail. If I paid the $950 fee, and booked my 2 weeks for 2010, he would give me two weeks credit each for 2007 &2008, plus 2 more bonus weeks for the 2010. I still have one week of 2009 left. This would give me a total of 9 weeks that I could use together in 2010, or split them up. Also my maintenance fees are frozen for the duration of my contract (25yrs) at $500/2weeks/yr.,plus 18%tax for the duration o9f the contract. I paid half of the fee; remaining due on April 15th,2009. I have all of this in writing, signed by Karla Nieto, Member Services Department.

We were able (we think) to confirm our reservations for the Villas in May. They did not have a record of us having paid our maintenance fee for those 2 weeks but we were able to prove it to them we paid because of a money order receipt.

Am interested to learn how to "walk away" from my maintenance fee contract. I'm willing to give up the money invested to purchase 2weeks of timeshare for my peace of mind. Have read the blog about the current owner, Jose Manuael Criserna Velacuez, and the possible illegal activities he's involved in.
I saw his "security men" at PM in February, and frankly they frightened me, a single woman.

We bought Januarys, unit #58, at Marina y Villas Coral at Isla Mazatlan in 2006. We have a 5-year contract in which we let them use the first 3 years to rent out. That means 2010 is the first year we could use it - but I've found out that the unit we bought isn't even owned by them! They supposedly had an option on it, but I believe #58 ws since bought by another company.
I can't get them to return my emils or letters to get more information and was beginning to assume they were out of business. The last letter we received from them was a message to start sending payments to a place in Laredo_Texas-Vacations.
Laredo Texas, not to B of A, and it was signed Crown Bay Residences.
My next letter was to be to Profeco in Mazatlan, but maybe someone has an email address that works. (I tried Payode1@islandresortsandvillas.com.mx but it never goes through).

Las infamias de Manuel Cristerna continùan a la orden del dìa, este pillo sin escrùpulos continùa cometiendo sus fechorias ante los ojos ciegos y oidos sordos de las autoridades, y tal vez sea cierto el "secreto a voces" que anda de boca en boca en todo Mazatlàn, y creo que serà de su interès saberlo, puès en aquel entonces, cuando este ladròn de Cristerna era todavìa el Director de Proyecto del aùn fraudulento Proyecto CROWN BAY, recibiò varias "visitas" del ahora alcalde Jorge Abel Lòpez, quien andaba en plena campaña polìtica para llegar a la Presidencia Municipal de Mazatlàn. Tales "visitas" se debieron a la siguiente razòn. El pillo de Cristerna habìa logrado tener lazos muy estrechos con los Coronel, hermano y sobrino del hoy malamente famoso Nachito Coronel, conocido narcotraficante. A Jorge Abel se le ofreciò una muy generosa donaciòn de dinero, (sucio, desde luego, y adivinen de quien???). Al aceptar tal "donativo" Jorge Abel se comprometiò a conceder ciertos "favores" si llegaba a ocupar la tan codiciada y peleada silla presidencial. Asì fue como el ladròn Cristerna se diò a la tarea de gritar a los 4 vientos su muy cercana "amistad" con el alcalde, e incluso con el Gobernador de Sinaloa Jesus Aguilar Padilla. Another US investor defrauded by Manuel Cristerna y Sergio de la Pena on La Isla

We have been Cheated out of our Investments that we made back 04 June, 2005.

We invested in 8 weeks of Fractional Ownership floating unit at fixed weeks, #'s 49,50.51,52,01,02,03,04

Then we made another contract in Oct. 2005, for Six Months, fixed months, NOV. DEC. JAN.FEB.MAR.APRIL in a Fixed unit # 49.

We also invest in a Private Partnership with Manuel Cristerna to build (5) five homes.

I gave him $80,000 on Dec. 15, 2005, and a 2ND check for $80,000 dollars to be invested on March 15, 2006.

Manuel and Ubaldo canceled our contract because we asked to many questions. But that was not true.

They found other people to invest in the same deal we had. On Feb 14, 2006, Manuel Cristerna and Ubaldo Rojas Ortiz canceled our Private Contract to build five homes, and they said that my money would be sent by electronic transfer to our bank.

Manuel and Ubaldo was to pay back my $80,000 plus interest of $8,500.

The total I was to receive was $88,500. Manuel and Ubaldo only sent to my bank $58,800. The Balance of $29,700 was to pay in full our Villa # 49.

We found out they did not own Villa # 49. They keep my $29,700.

They have built and sold all five homes that I was to profit in. I never wanted to cancel any contracts ever. Manuel & Ubaldo done this to others, the fraud is in the millions. PROFECO, in Mexico City has had our case for over two years now, and they always tell me that they cannot find the people.

I gave them Phone #'s email and contact information, but still PROFECO's reply was that they could not locate them.

I have a law firm in Mazatlan LLAUSAS AZCONA working for us.

So to sum up I have nothing but nothing. I am sure there are many more to come.

We are fractional owners of home #34 from Cannon Beach, OR. We purchased in Feb 2007. Supposedly the house was to be completed by Nov or Dec of 2007 as there was to be this BIG GRAND OPENING celebration that we were to be notified and invited to in December 2007. Never happened! When we went to Mazatlan in June 2007 to check why we were not getting any kind of response back from Manual Cristerna, or his "PR Man" Federico Medrano Barros, we showed up and chased them down. We had a meeting with Federico and he assured us that our home would be ready before we arrived in Feb 2008. Federico said that he would email us pictures to show us of the progress being made on our place. In Feb 2008, when we arrived, our house was not even close to being completed. They had to put us up in another house for our month. In the house that they put us in, it was tastefully furnished but there was still no satellite tv, phone or many of the things that were listed in the contract that we signed. We had to fix the pool ourselves because it did not work. Again, they promised by the next year Feb 2009 that our house would be completed and we would not have to worry about anything. While we were there in 2008, the construction on our home was making progress but when we showed up in Nov 2008, unannounced, no further progress had been made. Obviously, everything just stopped once we left. In Feb 2009 when we arrived, we were given the keys to yet a different house that had no pool, no yard, no dock access, many things in the house were not completed, furnishings had been taken from the Villas and were soiled and ripped. Again, no satellite tv and electricity was actually being wired from the house next door. Additionally, our house #34 was stuffed full of furniture from the Villas. When we asked Federico why our house was being used to store the stolen property, he got very nervous and just laughed, like he always does and said "no no not stolen". But all the furnishings that were being stored at our house were removed within two days. But no work resumed on our house. We were inconvenienced by running out of propane and it took two days for us to get our problem taken care of, when everyone knows that you get service usually within an hour. No one at the office had any cash to pay for it. When we complained about being ripped off, they threatened to have the police throw us out. Manuel trades vehicles with his relatives when he is at the isla because doesn't want anyone knowing when he is there for fear he will be arrested again. Have no idea what Feb 2010 will bring when we arrive for our scheduled visit. Anyone else who has been scammed, please feel free to contact us.

To the wonderful city of Mazatlan:
I am also an investor with Groupo Summerlin in the La Isla project in Marina Mazatlan, with an invested amount of $500,000 US dollars, and also have been lied to by Manuel Christerna and Ubaldo Rojas, nephew of Sergio de la Pena, about what we owed to them to obtain title to our properties. I met with them last year along with Cindy Rose, a real estate agent that formerly worked for Cristerna and she also at the time produced all contracts on the Island that showed how much money we had invested.
I have an insurance property casualty business in Colorado, Allen Insurance, with more than 3,000 clients. Most of the wealthy ones were interested in this project and were willing to go to Mazatlan and invest as they liked what they saw.

That was until now...they know how crooked the developer, Manuel Cristerna, is and that we have not seen any return on our money, nor received any of our real estate homes and condominiums in Marina Mazatlan which we paid for 3 years ago.

Now, to add insult to injury (my partner, Ron Gollehon, was actually physically assaulted on La Isla, in the driveway of a private residence, by Manuel Cristerna's bodyguards...or should I say "goons") the home I was to live in on La Isla, Casa #30, after being finally completed 2 years late, has been sold by Cristerna to a Federal Judge, Enrique Flores. Lic. Flores was given all documentation about our investment. Therefore, the Judge knew of the fraud being perpetrated by Cristerna, as the documents showed our contract + the money we had invested. But, the Judge, after reviewing a "settlement document" and approving us being paid our invested money, instead gave all the money to Cristerna. I only have to assume that this money was spread amongst the thieves that control Mazatlan.

In addition, Sergio Giron, a member of the real estate group, AMPI, was the broker (his partner...how convenient...is the next door neighbor of the Mayor of Mazatlan). Sergio Giron initially told my partner, Ron Gollehon, that "he was shocked" and would make certain that we got our money back...WRONG, he profited from this illegal sale also.

Is there no one with morals in this City???
This information is getting all over Colorado and especially the Denver area and I can't imagine anyone ever going down to Mazatlan to invest or spend money, as they know that is impossible to do business with Manuel Cristerna, and who ever is backing the absurd logic about doing nothing about the rampant corruption in Marina Mazatlan.
I have returned to Mazatlan several times the past four months and noticed the lack of tourists at the resort. I have been telling everyone about the corruption and they will not invest there, but instead are looking at other resort areas in Mexico and Latin America.
It's so sad to see the destruction of this beautiful city because of the blatant corruption of the entire area. Maybe some one will wake up, help us solve the financial atrocities committed against us, and, therefore, stop the bad press and publicity in the area.
It seems like the government of Mazatlan doesn't care about the area, certainly not about us foreigners investing in the City, and will let these crooks totally destroy what could have been a beautiful resort.

A Letter from a Mazatleco: Corruption in Mazatlan (Cristerna, Drug Money & The City Administration of Mazatlan)

Manuel Cristerna’s outrages continues everyday, this unscrupulous crook continues his misdeeds before the blind eyes and deaf ears of the authorities, and it might be true, this certain "secret" that goes from mouth to mouth throughout Mazatlan, and I believe will be of your interest to know, that on those days, when this thief, Cristerna, was the Project Director of the still fraudulent Project CROWN BAY, he had several "visits" from the now Mayor Jorge Abel Lopez, who was in those days into his full political campaign to get to be elected as the Municipal President (Mayor) of Mazatlan.

These "visits" happened for the following reasons. The crook Cristerna had managed to have very close links with the Coronel family, brother and nephew of the now famous Nachito Coronel... well known as a drug dealer.

The current Mayor Jorge Abel was offered a very generous donation of money (dirty, of course, and guess from whom ???). By accepting this "gift" Mayor Jorge Abel undertook to grant certain "favors" if he came to occupy the much coveted and sought presidential chair (Mayor of Mazatlan).

That was how the thief Cristerna was given the task of shouting at the 4 winds his close "friendship" with the mayor, and even the Governor of Sinaloa, Jesus Aguilar Padilla...Which continues to show us again and again the corruption of our authorities here in Mazatlan...and the State of Sinaloa.

And gentlemen, this is just a small piece of information, all the rest, we will gradually add to this website because we believe that our public here in Mazatlan and those that visit Mazatlan (especially those that invest money here) should be aware.

Americans Sirs, if I were you, I would take as a fact that I am losing my money, the authorities of Mazatlan, the authorities of Marina Mazatlan, and the Department of Tourism, are laughing at you. Las infamias de Manuel Cristerna continùan a la orden del dìa, este pillo sin escrùpulos continùa cometiendo sus fechorias ante los ojos ciegos y oidos sordos de las autoridades, y tal vez sea cierto el "secreto a voces" que anda de boca en boca en todo Mazatlàn, y creo que serà de su interès saberlo, puès en aquel entonces, cuando este ladròn de Cristerna era todavìa el Director de Proyecto del aùn fraudulento Proyecto CROWN BAY, recibiò varias "visitas" del ahora alcalde Jorge Abel Lòpez, quien andaba en plena campaña polìtica para llegar a la Presidencia Municipal de Mazatlàn. Tales "visitas" se debieron a la siguiente razòn. El pillo de Cristerna habìa logrado tener lazos muy estrechos con los Coronel, hermano y sobrino del hoy malamente famoso Nachito Coronel, conocido narcotraficante. A Jorge Abel se le ofreciò una muy generosa donaciòn de dinero, (sucio, desde luego, y adivinen de quien???). Al aceptar tal "donativo" Jorge Abel se comprometiò a conceder ciertos "favores" si llegaba a ocupar la tan codiciada y peleada silla presidencial. Asì fue como el ladròn Cristerna se diò a la tarea de gritar a los 4 vientos su muy cercana "amistad" con el alcalde, e incluso con el Gobernador de Sinaloa Jesus Aguilar Padilla.

Lo cual nos sigue demostrando una y otra vez la corrupciòn de nuestras autoridades. Y Sres., esto es solo una pequeña porciòn de informaciòn, toda la demàs, la iremos subiendo poco a poco a este sitio de internet, pues creemos que todo pùblico en general debe estar enterado.

Otra víctima de fraude en La Isla en Marina Mazatlán...por Cristerna, el ladrón

$ 3 millones de dólares perdidos ... condominios no construido

Soy abogado en la Ciudad de Denver Colorado,con amplia experiencia en el ramo de inversiones en Bienes Raíces. Represento a varios de mis hijos en sus intereses y se me invitó a participar en la inversión de un condominio en Mazatlán en la hoy, tristemente famosa Isla en La Marina Mazatlán.

Visité su página Web en Internet antes de decidirme a invertir, camine sobre el lugar donde se construiría nuestro condominio y supuestamente nos sería entregado, y en general recorrí toda la Isla y sus alrededores, donde también se nos dijo que era parte del Plan Maestro Especial llevado a cabo entre el Gobierno Mexicano y los dueños de Marina Mazatlán.

Tenemos un contrato firmado sobre esta unidad, pero ahora, siento y creo que la cantidad total de, $94.000, dólares que dimos como anticipo, nos ha sido robada por el sujeto que aparentemente todavía camina con libertad por las calles de Mazatlán como un hombre libre, y el cual también se me dijo, continúa vendiendo propiedades en La Isla. Propiedades cuales aparentemente todavía ni siquiera son de él, y con seguridad no eran de él cuando me vendio .
 
Tenemos un dicho en los E.U.; “el que vende lo que no es de él, que lo regrese, o a prisión irá”. Parece ser que este no es el caso en México, puesto que el individuo o individuos que están involucrados en este fraude continúan no solo disfrutando de los frutos del dinero mal habido, sino que continúan vendiendo una y otra vez las mismas propiedades a gente de buena fe.

He estado hablando con otras personas quienes han sido estafados y robados por este mismo grupo de personas, y se me ha informado que las altas autoridades de Mazatlán están totalmente bien informados de esta situación, pero con todo y eso, no han hecho nada por ponerle fin a estas fraudulentas actitudes ni han ayudado a ninguna de las víctimas a recobrar su dinero invertido. Igualmente he sido informado, lo cual no necesariamente tengo que creer puesto que no tengo pruebas de ello, de que estos individuos, han sobornado al menos algún abogado , probablemente al Juez y al Alcalde de Mazatlán para que los protejan de cualquier acción legal en contra de ellos.

 No intento meterle dinero bueno al malo, contratando alguno de los servicios legales en México pues sería inútil recurrir a ello, pues por todo lo que he oído, a las Autoridades no les importa para nada. Por lo tanto, lo que si haré inmediatamente es encontrar todos los mas de sitios de internet que pueda donde se dirijan al turismo de Mazatlán para enviarles a todos ellos la información acerca de todas las atrocidades que se están llevando a cabo en La Isla e incluso me daré a la tarea de identificar a cada persona que se encuentre involucrada con este robo.

De la misma manera, me daré a la tarea de contactar cada crucero que vaya a Mazatlan para informarles de todos los problemas por los que he pasado, para que al menos ellos puedan informar y alertar a los pasajeros de los peligros que ahí existen.  También, para mantener la bola en el aire, contactaré a cualquiera que haya hecho recientemente negocios en Mazatlán y me aseguraré de que estén enterados de las atrocidades que pueden ocurrirle a gente decente, ahí, en la mera cara de las autoridades de la ciudad, y de las autoridades Judiciales.

Por lo tanto, contactaré al Departamento de los Estados Unidos, la Embajada, a nuestros Congresistas; a nuestros Senadores y tal vez, con algo de suerte, incluso a nuestro Presidente Obama, y hare todo lo que este en mi mano para asegurarme que ninguna moneda entre en Mazatlán sin que las personas tengan el pleno conocimiento de lo que pueden esperar si caen en las manos de estos criminales a quienes les permiten libremente defraudar y robar a gente como a mis hijos, quienes fueron al país de México con toda la intención de ocupar su condominio que se suponía sería algo muy hermoso en La Isla, y lo único que paso fue que les robaron su inversión bajo los ojos mismos de las autoridades de Mazatlán.  

Tal vez no me regresen mi dinero, pero una cosa si les digo, que puedo hacer un daño mucho mayor a la economía de Mazatlán, que el daño que estos ladrones le han hecho a mi familia.

I am an attorney in Denver Colorado, with extensive experience in real estate ventures. I happen to represent several trusts of my children and was induced to purchase a condominium in Mazatlan on the now infamous island in Marina Mazatlan. I visited the site before approving the purchase, walked into the unit that was supposed to be delivered and generally looked over the island and the surrounding area, which we were told was part of a Special Master Trust set up between the Government of Mexico and Marina Mazatlan's owner. We have a signed contract for the unit, but I am now given to believe that the entire fund we put down, $94.000, has apparently been stolen by an individual who still apparently walks the streets of Mazatlan a free man and so I am told, continues to sell properties on La Isla, none of which he apparently owns and probably did not own when it was sold to me.

Now we have an old legal saying in the U.S.; "he who sells what isn't hizen, gives it back or goes to prison". Apparently this is not the case in Mexico, as not only does the individual and now apparently individuals who are involved in this fraud continue not only to enjoy the fruits of their ill-gotten gains, but continue to sell the same properties over and over to other unsuspecting citizens.

I have been in touch with others who have been scammed by this group and am informed that the officials in the higher up ranks in Mazatlan have been fully briefed on this situation and yet do nothing to stop the scoundrels or to assist any of the defrauded parties in recovering their losses. I am also informed, but do not necessarily believe as I have no direct proof, that these several individuals, including the original perpetrator, at least one lawyer, probably a judge and the mayor of Mazatlan have, so I hear, received payments from the perpetrator to keep them safe from any actions that might be brought.

Now I do not intend, yet, to send good money after bad and attempt some sort of useless legal action in Mexico, as from what I hear, no one of authority cares. Therefore, I shall immediately undertake to find as many Mazatlan tourist internet sites as I can and forward to them all of the information I am gaining about the financial atrocities that have taken place on the island and I intend to identify every person whom I can connect with the theft, the coverup and the ongoing roadblocks that officials sanction to avoid recovery.

Then, I will contact every cruise line that has docked in Mazatlan for the last couple of years and fill them in on the problems that I have incurred, so that if they see fit to actually continue to steam into the area, at least they can warn their passengers of the dangers.

Then, just to keep the ball in the air, I intend to contact any lenders who have done recent business in Mazatlan and make sure that they are aware of the pitfalls that can occur to decent people, right under the noses of the main officials of the city and apparently of the judiciary as well.

Then, as although I have better things to do, I am going to contact the U.S. State Department; the local U.S. embassy; my congressmen; my senators and with luck, also President Obama, so that I can do all that is in my power to see that not one damn dime trickles into Mazatlan without the persons authorizing such fully being informed of what they can expect at the hands of the criminal element that is allowed to freely prey on people like my children, who came to Mexico with the full intent of building and occupying what was to be a beautiful residence on the island, only to have their investment taken from them under the apparently uncaring eyes of Mazatlan officialdom.

I may not get my money back, but unless I miss my guess, I can make a much bigger impact on the Mazatlan economy than the Mazatlan crooks have made on my family.

Con una inversión de 175 millones de pesos se puso la primera piedra de lo que será el proyecto Crown Bay

Con una inversión de 175 millones de pesos, ayer se puso la primera piedra de lo que será el proyecto Crown Bay, una torre de 18 niveles de departamentos, que operará como condominios y hotel.

Con la presencia del Secretario de Turismo, Antonio Ibarra Salgado, y del Alcalde Jorge Abel López Sánchez, el proyecto busca innovar la prestación de servicios turísticos en Mazatlán, al venderse como espacios privados, pero con operaciones hoteleras.

Antonio Torres Ochoa, director Responsable de Obra, mencionó que el proyecto Crown Bay es un hotel en propiedad condominal, que cuenta con 54 habitaciones desarrolladas en 17 niveles y cada una cuenta con dos recámaras y además con un acceso directo de elevador.
“Nuestro hotel se caracteriza por tener un condominio que fue revisado por la intención de que la propiedad fuera rentada, en sí esa es la característica general de nuestro condominio y su uso general va a ser de hotel y con estacionamiento suficiente para albergar a los usuarios”, expresó.

José Manuel Cristerna Velázquez, director del Proyecto, expresó que Crown Bay vendrá a revolucionar la forma de hacer turismo en Mazatlán. “Dada la necesidad de más cuartos de hotel, nosotros planeamos la manera de poder invertir en algo que fuera factible para cuando llegue el turismo, en 2010, estar preparados”, expresó.

Se inició una campaña de promoción con algunos inversionistas, mencionó, para aportar a la renta y el hotel se maneje de una manera profesional, pues todas las habitaciones serán de uso exclusivo de hotel y los inversionistas tendrán el derecho de usarla, pero no vivirán los 365 días del año.
Fernando Sosa, gerente de Promoción de Crown Bay, comentó que la hotelería que se busca es de cinco estrellas, que sea capaz de tomar clientela de todo el mundo para elevar el turismo de Mazatlán.
Cada inversionista, señaló, tendrá en cada departamento dos unidades rentables, que permitirá obtener mayores ingresos y hacer una recuperación más rápida de la inversión.
El Alcalde Jorge Abel López Sánchez expresó que el Gobierno está interesado en facilitar las inversiones en Mazatlán, darle salida y hoy en día se han diversificado las inversiones.
“Ciertamente Mazatlán requiere de mucho más cuartos de hotel y debemos prepararnos para recibir el auge que se tendrá cuando se concluya la carretera Mazatlán-Durango y eso nos va a obligar a los gobiernos construir la infraestructura de servicios que nos permita garantizar los servicios”, expresó.
El Secretario de Turismo, Antonio Ibarra Salgado, expuso que en estos momentos Mazatlán tiene la disyuntiva de quedarse como está sin crecimiento o manejar un crecimiento ordenado y sustentable.
“Sí tenemos problemas en cuestión de infraestructura, pero estamos trabajando en ello, con una visión amplia del Gobernador Jesús Aguilar Padilla, que se ha adelantado al relanzamiento de Mazatlán”, manifestó.
En estos momentos, expresó, se debe preparar con infraestructura pública y hotelera, porque la carretera Mazatlán-Durango cuando se termine, comienza el compromiso de Mazatlán, para dar respuesta al turismo a partir de 2010.NUEVO DESARROLLO

He visitado su página de Internet donde se queja Usted amargamente del fraude cometido a Usted y otros inversionistas por el pillo de José Manuel Cristerna. Me permito darle datos sobre este pillo que puede ser de utilidad para su causa.

Usted comprenderá que no puedo darle mi nombre por estar ligado al negocio de bienes raíces y por temor a que este pillo de Cristerna y otros mas que aquí le daré a conocer, tomen represalias en mi contra.

Primero debo de decirle que el abogado que lleva el juicio en contra de Cristerna cometió errores de principiante pues no integro correctamente la demanda en contra de ese pillo. De haberse integrado correctamente, este pillo continuaría dentro de la cárcel, ya que el fraude en la Ley Penal en vigor en Sinaloa y en México contempla el fraude como delito grave sin libertad bajo fianza y mucho menos la obtención de un amparo de la justicia federal. El amparo conseguido por el pillo de Cristerna se debió a errores en la demanda interpuesta por su abogado.

Este pícaro de Cristerna llego desde su natal Oaxaca a Mazatlán en los años 90 trabajando de OPC para varios desarrollos de tiempo compartido de Mazatlán, principalmente para el Lic. Guerrero, propietario de Cerritos Resort.

Posteriormente, en el 2005 cuando la Marina Mazatlán pasa a ser propiedad de el Lic. Ernesto Echavarria Salazar y el a su vez le vende la porción de tierra conocida como la Isla de Marina Mazatlán a los Sres. Barrenechea y Pluma, este pillo de Cristerna ofreció sus servicios de mercadotecnia como OPC para iniciar la venta de tiempo compartido en la Isla y al mismo tiempo trabajando para otro pícaro llamado Luís Medina, propietario de Marina del Rey y posteriormente de Playa Maria que despues en el 2007 le vendió a Sergio de la Peña este hotel.
De la Peña, tenía intenciones de usar esta propiedad como club de playa para los propietarios de las villas y residencias de la Isla. Operación que nunca se concreto ya que Luís Medina le vendió el edificio sin ningún mueble y sin ningún cliente de tiempo compartido. Este fue un gran golpe para Sergio de la Peña.

Los Sres. Barrenechea y Pluma le venden una parte de las villas a Sergio de la Peña y Cristerna se asocia con este señor para continuar con la venta de parejas para tiempo compartido en la parte alta de la Isla. Sergio de la Peña construye el faro donde se ubican oficinas, restaurante y sala de ventas.

Hasta la fecha desconozco como fue que Cristerna convenció a Sergio de la Peña en el año 2006, para iniciar la construcción de casas y venderlas como tiempo fraccionado y también en tiempo completo (full time) en la parte norte de la Isla. Aquí se inicia la temporada de fraudes inmobiliario, sumándose este a los fraudes de tiempo compartido ya cometidos en las villas que eran propiedad de Sergio de la Peña.

Para esto Cristerna ya había cometido fraudes en contra del Lic. Guerrero de Cerritos Resort y de Luís Medina expropietario de Marina del Rey y Playa Maria y otros más, además de no pagarles las comisiones a sus trabajadores de OPC y vendedores de tiempo compartido así como de full time.

Es importante destacar que la compañía propietaria de La Marina Mazatlán, así como su director Lic. Echavarria, no tienen nada que ver con Sergio de la Peña, así como tampoco con el pillo de Cristerna, ya que no hubo trato directo de venta de esta parte de la Isla a Sergio de la Peña.

El pillo de Cristerna a principios del año 2008 le compra secretamente a Sergio de la Peña todas sus propiedades en la Isla así como el Hotel Playa Maria en la cantidad de 51 millones de pesos ( al tipo de cambio de esa fecha $5 millones de dólares).

En un principio no se sabía de donde obtuvo Cristerna esta cantidad tan grande de dinero.
Mas sin embargo en esos días Cristerna estaba trabajando en la mercadotecnia y ventas de otro fraude que ya esta en operación en Mazatlán, el edificio de condominios en la Zona Dorada llamado Crown Bay, financiado por los lava dinero de los Sres. Pardo, dueños de varias joyerías en dicha zona y grandes vendedores de joyas a muchísimos narcotraficantes de varias partes del país.
Por lo que es muy posible esta compra fue realizada con dinero sucio de los Pardo, quienes además de ser dueños del proyecto de Crown Bay son copropietarios del proyecto de condominios de Torrenza. Por lo tanto Manuel Cristerna solo es un prestanombres del dinero lavado de los Pardo.

Estos dos proyectos son otro verdadero centro de lavado de dinero por parte de los Pardo, los Coronel y los Castañeda. Estos proyectos también se están convirtiendo en un gran fraude y serio gran dolor de cabeza para aquellos que lleguen a comprar algún condominio en estos proyectos y para Mazatlán.
Ninguno de estos tipos aquí nombrados son mazatlecos. Solo llegaron a Mazatlán a cometer fraudes y lavar dinero del narcotráfico.

Actualmente ya se supo que estas personas compraron parte de la Isla y el Hotel Playa Maria poniendo como prestanombre a Manuel Cristerna, ya que a partir de la salida de la cárcel de Cristerna quiso operar el Playa Maria en ventas de tiempo compartido pero sin embargo los Pardo lo echaron fuera con la policía y hoy se llama Torrenza Boutique Hotel.

Al día de hoy es ya conocido que Cristerna iniciara la venta de nueva cuenta de las villas en la Isla.

Espero que esta información la de a conocer en su blog tanto en ingles como en español para evitar que sigan ocurriendo fraudes inmobiliarios y de tiempo compartido en Mazatlán. Es muy importante que también de a conocer en su blog o entre sus amigos residentes que eviten todo lo que sea relacionado con Torrenza, (que también manejan a Royal Villas y ex Playa Maria en tiempo compartido con la dirección de otro pícaro llamado Steven Noland), este proyecto no cuenta con permisos, además de ser el mayor lavado de dinero del narcotráfico en Mazatlán ya que la constructora COVI es manejada por dos tipos llamados Miguel Coronel (padre e hijo) familiares del narcotraficante Nacho Coronel, quien es el que provee de dinero para la construcción de los inmuebles que esta compañía construye en Mazatlán y si usted observa la construcción se encuentra paralizada por no contar actualmente con dinero ya que Nacho Coronel se encuentra en fuga por la actual persecución que el Gobierno Federal a iniciado en su contra.

Now they are being told by Marina Mazatlan that they will have to pay $100,000 USD for these yacht slips, or complete strangers will be able to park their boats in these homeowners back yard. The problems have already begun, as these strangers park their boats and trespass onto the home owners yards.

I have visited your web site where I see you have been complaining painfully about the fraud commited on you and your Partners by the crook, José Manuel Cristerna. I’m giving you this information because it might be helpful to your cause.

As you might understand, I can not give you my name because I’m related to the real estate business and fear that this crook and some other ones that I will also mention here might take reprisals against me.

First, I must say that the attorney that is handling the law suit against Cristerna made mistakes like he was just a beginner because he did not integrate the law suit correctly against this crook. If your attorney would have prepared the lawsuit correctly, this crook, Sr. Cristerna, would still be in jail, since the fraud in the current Criminal Law in Sinaloa and Mexico says that Fraud is a felony offense and that it should not allow the crook to get out of jail, even after paying bail and much less obtaining an appeal from the Federal Courts. The appeal obtained by this crook Cristerna was because of the mistakes made on the lawsuit prepared by your attorney.

This crook Cristerna came to Mazatlan from Oaxaca where he started working in the 90’s as a OPC for several developers of time share, mainly for Lic. Guerrero, owner of the Cerritos Resort.

In the year of 2005, when Marina Mazatlán was bought by Lic. Ernesto Echavarria Salazar, he sold a portion of a land known as La Isla de Marina Mazatlán to Mr. Barrenechea and Mr. Pluma. This crook Cristerna offered his services as an OPC to start selling time share at La Isla and at the same time Cristerna was working for this other crook named Luís Medina, owner of Marina del Rey and later, owner of Hotel Playa Maria, and in 2007 he sold this Hotel to Sergio de la Peña.
De la Peña had the intention to use this property as a Beach Club for the owners of the villas and homes on La Isla. This was never completed because Luis Medina sold to de la Peña the building without furniture and without any timeshare clients. This really hurt Sergio de la Peña.

Mr. Barrenechea and Mr. Pluma sold part of their villas to Sergio de la Peña and Cristerna became a partner to continue selling time share on the North side of La Isla. Sergio de la Peña built the lighthouse where he had the administration offices, restaurant and sales office.

Until today, I don’t know how Cristerna persuaded Sergio de la Peña in 2006 to build homes and sell them as fractional ownership and full time ownership on the north part of La Isla. This is when the real estate frauds really began, in addition to the fraud already being committed in the villas owned by Sergio de la Peña.

Before this, the crook Cristerna had already committed fraud against Lic. Guerrero owner of Cerritos Resort and against Luís Medina ex-owner of Marina del Rey and Playa Maria and some other people. Furthermore, he did not pay commissions to his OPC workers, nor the sales people who were selling timeshare, fractional and full time ownership.

It is very important to mention that the Marina Mazatlán development company, Desarrollo Marina Mazatlán including its Director General Lic. Echavarria, have nothing to do with Sergio de la Peña and neither with the crook Cristerna.

The crook Cristerna in the begining of 2008 secretly bought from Sergio de la Peña all of his properties on La Isla including Hotel Playa Maria for the amount of 51 millions pesos (approximately $5 million USD).

At first nobody knew how Cristerna get this large amount of money. However, in those days Cristerna was working as the head salesman of another big fraud, which is now operating in Mazatlan, which is the condominiums building in the Golden Zone called Crown Bay, funded by these men named Pardo, well known as laundry money guys. They own several jewelry stores in the Golden Zone and sell alot of the jewelry to drug dealers all around the country. For this reason, it is very possible that this purchase was done with the dirty money of the Pardos, who also are the owners of the Crown Bay Project and are partial owners of the Torrenza Project. Therefore, Manuel Cristerna let these guys use his name to launder the money from the Pardos.

These two projects mentioned above, are a real money laundering center that belong to the Pardos, the Coronels and Sr. Castañeda. These projects have become a huge fraud and a big headache to those who buy any condominium in any of these projects.

None of these crooks mentioned here are Mazatlecos. They only came to Mazatlán to commit fraud and to launder the money from the drug dealers.

At the present time, is well known that these people bought part of La Isla and Hotel Playa Maria using Manuel Cristerna’s name as a convenience. When Cristerna got out of jail, he tried to manage Playa Maria and selling timeshares there, but the Pardo’s threw him out of the Hotel using the police to do so, and now they have named the old Playa Maria hotel, Torrenza Boutique Hotel.

At the present time, it is well known that Cristerna is trying again to sell the villas, condominiums and homes at La Isla.

I hope you will expose this information in the blog site also in English to try to stop these real estate and timeshare frauds in Mazatlán. It is also very important to let the blogger know and to your friends too, that they have to be very careful and do not get involved with anything regarding the Torrenza Project. They also manage the Royal Villas and what used to be Playa Maria regarding the timeshare sales with the direction of another crook named Steven Noland. This Project has no permits, besides being the largest money laundering of the drug dealers in Mazatlán because the construction company named COVI is managed by two crooks named Miguel Coronel (father & son) relatives of the big drug dealer named Nacho Coronel, whom provides the money for the construction of the projects that this company builds in Mazatlán. The construction has been stopped for not having money because this drug dealer Nacho Coronel has escaped from the persecution that the Federal Government has launched against him.

For Manuel Cristerna to spread rumors, because that is all they are, that Mr. Gollehon has not honored his contracts and has treated his investment partners unfairly is a total lie. We know the truth and the officials in Mazatlan and Sinaloa should also know the truth.

I, Cosmin Danila, am an accomplished photographer and Manuel convinced me to let him use some of my photography work of La Isla for their commercial use in promoting La Isla. I am truly sorry I allowed that, as we do not want to be associated with this person who has harmed so many people, and it appears he continues to do so.

Conozco a Ron Gollehon a manera personal desde 1969 (mil novecientos sesenta y nueve), cuando estaba a punto de terminar su carrera en la Academia de la Fuerza Aérea de los Estados Unidos.

Mi relación de negocios con el Sr. Gollehon se ha incrementado en los últimos 15 (quince) años, y ha sido mucho mas seria e intensa durante esta década. He sido para el Sr. Gollehon su socio, su Director Ejecutivo, incluso Director de Proyecto en varios proyectos. Mi historia laboral es primordialmente de hombre de negocios, no de vendedor. El Sr. Gollehon siempre ha mostrado lealtad a socios y empleados a quienes a mas de uno les ha cambiado la vida. La esposa de nuestro gerente de ventas de un Proyecto en Arkansas, tubo una enfermedad traumática y prolongada, y al final fatal, que arruinó a la familia económicamente. Cuando se les terminó el seguro que cubría los gastos hospitalarios, tuvieron que echar mano de todo lo que tenían para prolongar la estancia en el hospital. Al final, cuando la esposa murio, la familia se enfrentó a la pérdida de su casa y de una pequeña granja que había pertenecido a la familia por tres generaciones.
Ron, sin recibir a cambio mas que un fuerte apretón de manos, les dio un cheque por una cantidad mas que generosa. El, riendo, literalmente lo llamó “salvando a la granja”. Lealtad, engendra lealtad, incluso en los tiempos difíciles.

Mi relación personal y de negocios con Ron Gollehon continúa hasta la fecha. Yo sin duda he sacado provecho de ambas relaciones.

Conozco a Ron Gollehon hace aproximádamente 25 años. A principios de
1980, Yo era corredor de la bolsa de valores en Denver, Colorado, de una firma llamada E. J. Pittock & Co. Tenía bajo mi mando varios asistentes que trabajaban para mi. Uno de ellos conocía a Ron Gollehon y lo ayudó a abrir una cuenta en nuestra Firma para que él pudiera comprar y vender Acciones de la Bolsa. Me mantuve en contacto con Ron y cuando me retire del negocio de la Bolsa de Valores en 1986 y comencé mi propio negocio el cual fusiona compañías públicas o privadas. Esto me ha dado un muy exitoso negocio, y las fusiones realizadas nos han dado más de $2 billones de dólares para fondos de la propia empresa y así ayudarlos al crecimiento después de que las fusiones se llevaron a cabo.
Mientras hacía mi propio negocio de Corredor, Ron entonces estaba haciendo también su propio y exitoso negocio de Bienes Raíces. Ron vivía en Denver, Colorado, pero sus actividades no estaban limitadas solo a Denver. Ron constantemente se involucraba en el negocio de los bienes raíces en otras ciudades del Estado de Colorado tales como Vail y Aspen, Colorado. Ron también invirtió por si solo con sus propios recursos. El podría comprar terrenos al norte de Denver donde 120 casas podrían construirse en esa tierra, podría involucrarse en una gran compra en el Estado de Missouri, o en el estado de Florida.
Nunca me sorprendía en lo que Ron se involucraba. Se podía ver que él siempre se involucraba en diferentes negocios de Bienes Raíces como un reto mas, y siempre encontraba a la gente que aportaba el dinero hasta llevar el proyecto a su terminación.
Por lo tanto, cuando Ron me busco a finales del año 2005 para proponerme invertir en Mazatlán, le preste atención pues sabia que estaba en una etapa nueva de crecimiento en lo que se refiere a bienes raíces y que sería de gran éxito para él. El me describió a Mazatlán como una bellísima pequeña ciudad que estaba lista para un explosivo crecimiento, cerca del mar y en La Isla, Isla Marina. El pensó que sería fantástico vivir en La Isla, levantarse en la mañana y al ver a través de la ventana, ver su bote anclado en su propio muelle afuera de su casa. El me dijo que yo debería comprarme una casa ahí.
Fui a Mazatlán con Ron. En donde él se enamoro de la idea de tener una casa ahí, y al caminar en La Isla me dí una idea de lo que podría llegar a ser esa Isla, y creció mi interés en adquirir un edificio de condominios en La Isla, y buscamos información y entendimos que los muelles de cada una de las casas podrían tener un bote grande y que alrededor de 1,000 barcos y botes de diferentes tamaños podrían anclar en La Marina. Cuando la gente tiene grandes y caros juguetes (botes), necesitan lugares en donde ponerlos, así que nosotros sentimos que La Isla podría tener clientes de muy buenos recursos económicos, tales como la gente en Vail y Aspen, exactamente el tipo de gente con los cuales Ron trabajó por mas de 25 años.
Y como resultado de lo que Ron y yo sentimos que La Isla podría ser, nos entrevistamos con Manuel, el desarrollador de casas y condominios en La Isla. Le dijimos a él que cada uno de nosotros podría comprar una casa en La Isla, y que no habría ningún problema por pagar en efectivo, pues solo se requería $1 millón por parte nuestra, pero le dijimos que preferíamos hacerlo a manera de pagos a cierto plazo, y que si se hacía en esos términos, le compraríamos 7 casas y 2 edificios de condominios y nosotros podríamos poner algo mas de $2 millones de dólares
para ayudarlo a construir, después pagaríamos el resto del dinero al terminarse de construir los edificios y las casas.
Ron hizo planes para obtener su casa y vivir permanentemente en la Isla Mazatlán, y yo planeaba venir periódicamente a mi penthouse. De hecho, hablamos de poner los condominios al alcance de los banqueros inversionistas de Wall Street para que lo usaran cuando yo no estuviera ahí para que ellos les recomendaran a otras gentes sobre Mazatlán y así me ayudarían a continuar con mi negocio.

Ron pensó que al estar las construcciones al 90% construidas, él podría traer gente interesada en comprar.
Hicimos contratos con Manuel y le dimos aproximadamente $2.6 millones de dólares entre Ron, yo mismo, y de algunos de nuestros clientes.
Por ejemplo, Ron le dijo a Tom Bissmeyer que viniera a Mazatlán. Tom vió la oportunidad y dio un enganche o pago de $300,000 USD por una casa en la cual Ron tenía ya un contrato con Manuel.
Tom Bissmeyer viaja por todos los Estados Unidos y habla frente a miles de personas acerca de invertir en bienes raíces.
La empresa de Tom Bissmeyer mueve millones de dólares en bienes raíces. Por ejemplo; en Mississippi, inmediatamente después del huracán Katrina, Tom
pudo juntar inversionistas y llevo a cabo una pre-venta de condos en un evento por 2 días y la pre-venta fue por mas de $60 millones de dólares.
Bueno, a Tom le gusto mucho Mazatlán, y vio la oportunidad en La Isla, quería comprarse una casa ahí y vender millones de dólares en bienes raíces en La Isla, así es que le dio un cheque por $300,000 a Manuel.
Ron y yo trajimos mucha gente asi. Al principio todo parecía tan emocionante pues Manuel parecía decir la verdad, y sentimos que estábamos en el lugar correcto. Desafortunadamente, mientras Ron seguía trabajando arduamente, Manuel no hacía lo que nos había prometido. No terminaba las casas, no terminaba los edificios y empezo a doble vender las propiedades.

Ron y yo sinceramente creemos que si Manuel hubiera sido honesto, Ron y yo
hubiéramos duplicado o triplicado la cantidad de dinero con la que empezamos en Mazatlán y que hubiéramos obtenido mas de $20 millones en ganancias de las ventas de bienes raíces en Mazatlán, Manuel hubiera ganado millones de dólares, y Mazatlán hubiera tenido una bellísima Isla con gente de alto poder adquisitivo.
Desafortunadamente, Mazatlán ha sido un desastre, y Manuel un ladrón a quien se le ha dejado operar libremente dañando la reputación de Mazatlán terriblemente.
Y con todo esto, me ha impresionado la manera como mi socio Ron Gollehon, ha manejado la situación. El siempre ha sido honesto y justo con todos nosotros.
Manuel ha afectando la reputación de Mazatlán. Sabiendo que hubiéramos podido haber ganado mas de $20 millones de dólares que hubiéramos traido a Mazatlán con todos los contratos que hubiéramos vendido, Ron nunca ha pedido esas cantidades como una manera de llegar a un acuerdo, solamente ha pedido que se nos entregue lo que se nos prometió, o que se nos regrese nuestro dinero.
Y aún bajo amenaza de muerte, Ron no le ha huido al problema, sino que ha seguido trabajando día tras día para poder resolver este problema. Esto no ha sido nada fácil puesto que Manuel es Mexicano y Ron es extranjero. Es muy fácil para Manuel el estar en Mazatlán y defenderse, pero es muy difícil y costoso, y estar lejos de su familia para Ron. También, Ron es extranjero y le ha sido muy difícil tener que enfrentar la situación sin hablar español y no esta acostumbrado a la cultura y las costumbres del pueblo Mexicano.
Uno nunca se da cuenta como puede la gente responder bajo presión hasta que los ves en esas circunstancias. Debo decir, que ha sido sumamente difícil, a Ron se le ha amenazado su vida en Mazatlán.
Le dispararon un balazo a la ventana de su oficina, y se nos robo también la oportunidad de trabajar y ganar en Mazatlán.
Y Ron ha gastado mucho dinero en estos 3 años que ha tenido que estar trabajando en Mazatlán.
Con todo esto, Ron ha sido honesto, ético y trabajador para lograr resolver este problema y devolvernos nuestro dinero, puesto que lo que Manuel prometió nunca fue terminado.
Desde luego nosotros nunca esperamos que sucediera esta clase de situaciones cuando decidimos comprar propiedades en Mazatlán. Pero como las cosas se han ido agravando de mal a peor no sabía como iba a reaccionar Ron bajo tanta presión, y debo decir que observando su comportamiento, siento que no pude haber escogido mejor socio puesto que no solo ve por nuestros intereses o los de él, sino por todos los que están involucrados.

I have known Ron Gollehon for approximately 25 years. In the early 1980’s, I was a stock broker in Denver, Colorado, at a firm called E. J. Pittock & Co. I had some assistants that worked for me. One of them knew Ron Gollehon and helped him to open an account at our firm so that he could buy and sell stocks. I continued to stay in touch with Ron when I retired from the stock business in 1986 and began my own firm which merges private and public companies. It has been a very successful business and the mergers that I have done have been able to attract over $2 billion dollars of equity to help them grow after the mergers were completed.
While I was building a successful brokerage business, Ron was building a successful real estate business. Ron resided in Denver, Colorado, but he did not limit his real estate practices to Denver. Ron consistently got involved in real estate transactions in other cities in Colorado such as Vail and Aspen, Colorado. As a result of his practice, he rubbed shoulders with many well to do individuals. Ron also invested in real estate for his own personal holdings. He might buy a tract of develop land north of Denver where 120 homes could be built on the land, he might be involved in a large real estate play out of state in Missouri, or he may be involved in a high rise in Florida.
It never surprised me as to what Ron was getting involved in. He always seemed to be taking on different real estate challenges and then finding people and money to assist in making the projects come to completion.
Therefore, when Ron approached me about Mazatlan in late 2005, I paid attention as I knew that early stage real estate was an area of great success for him. He described Mazatlan as a gorgeous small city that was getting ready for explosive growth both on the ocean, but more importantly he felt on an in land island, Isla Marina. He thought it would be fantastic to live on the Island, wake up in the morning, look out, and have all of these beautiful yachts parked right outside his home. He told me I should buy a home there.
I went down to Mazatlan with Ron. Where Ron loved the idea of a home, as I walked the island and envisioned what it could become, my lifestyle led me to have more interest in owning a penthouse in a condo building on the island. We gathered information and understood that the slips surrounding the houses would be able to accommodate very large yachts and that over 1,000 ships and boats of various sizes could be attracted to the marina. When people have big and expensive toys (boats), they need places to also stay, and so we felt the island could sell out to very wealthy individuals. In fact, very wealthy individuals, such as the wealthy type that come to Vail and Aspen were exactly the type of people that Ron had over 25 years of experience working with.
As a result of what Ron and I felt the island could become, we met with Manuel, the builder of homes and condos on the island. We told him that we could each buy a home on the island, and that it would not be a problem paying cash as that would only require about $1 million from us, but we told him what we would prefer to do is make some down payments on a number of homes and a couple of condo buildings. If he would give us terms, we would be willing to buy 7 homes and 2 condo buildings and we would be willing to come up with well over $2 million to help him build, and then we would pay the balance of the money after the homes and condos were completed.
Ron planned for his permanent home to be on Isla Mazatlan, and I planned to be down to my penthouse periodically. In fact, we talked about making the condo available for Wall Street investment bankers to use when I was not there as that would expose wealthy people to Mazatlan and help me to continue to develop stronger relationships with people in my business.
Ron felt that when the homes and condos were about 90% built, he would be able to bring people down and be able to market the homes and real estate quite easily. We entered into contracts with Manuel and came up with approximately $2.6 million between Ron, myself, and a couple of our early clients. As an example, Ron had Tom Bissmeyer come down to Mazatlan. Tom saw the opportunity and made a down payment of $300,000 on a home that Ron and I had a contract to buy from Manuel.
Tom Bissmeyer is very unique. Tom travels the United States speaking in front of audiences of 1,000’s of people on real estate investing. Tom’s firm moves tremendous amounts of real estate. As an example, in Mississippi, shortly after the devastation of hurricane Katrina, Tom was able to pull together investors and pre-sell over $60 million dollars of condos during a 2 day event. Well, Tom loved the island in Mazatlan, saw the opportunity on the island, wanted to own a house, and wanted to market millions of dollars of real estate on the island, so he wrote a $300,000 check that he gave to Manuel.
Ron and I brought down many people like this, some doctors who were thinking of establishing a medical clinic off of the Island and having their homes on the island, etc. At first it was very exciting as Manuel said the right things, and we were in the right place at the right time. Unfortunately, as Ron was working very hard, over time, Manuel was not doing any of the things he promised. He was not completing the homes, was not building timely, and started double selling the properties.
Ron and I believe that if Manuel would have been honest, Ron and I would have been able to double or triple the amount of real estate we started with in Mazatlan and that we would have made over $20 million dollars in real estate profits in Mazatlan, Manuel would have made millions of dollars, and Mazatlan would have a beautifully built out island that would have very wealthy people owning the real estate and bringing their yachts to Mazatlan. Unfortunately, Mazatlan has been a disaster, so far. Manuel is a crook and has been allowed to freely operate, damage the reputation of doing real estate in Mexico, and he has badly hurt Mazatlan’s reputation.
Throughout all of this, I have been positively shocked at how my partner, Ron Gollehon, has conducted himself. He has been very fair with everyone. He has worked hard to show proof to the appropriate parties aware that Manuel should be dealt with as he is negatively effecting the reputation of Mazatlan. Knowing that we could have probably made $20 million or more with the contacts we could have brought down to Mazatlan, Ron has never brought those kind of numbers up as a settlement. Rather, he has only asked that we and our investors get the property we were promised or get our money back.
Even under the threat of death, Ron has not run from the problem but has worked day after day with the appropriate people in Mazatlan to resolve the problem. This is not easy as Manuel is Mexican and Ron is a foreigner. Staying and defending himself in Mazatlan is easy for Manuel. It is difficult, time consuming, costly, and requires Ron to be away from his family. Also, Ron is a foreigner having to deal with the issues when he doesn’t speak the language and was not raised in the culture or the customs of the people of Mexico.
You never really know how people will respond under pressure until you actually see them in that circumstance. I must say, this has been a very difficult ordeal. Ron has had his life threatened in Mazatlan. There was a bullet shot through his office glass into his wall. We have been robbed of the opportunity to make a big profit in Mazatlan. And Ron has spent a lot of money and 3 years of work down in Mazatlan. Through all this, Ron has been amazingly fair, honest, ethical, and hard working in order to seek a resolution that helps Mazatlan, helps Isla Mazatlan, and returns the money to the investors since the job was never completed by Manuel.
Of course we never expected this kind of challenge when we decided to buy property in Mazatlan. As things have gotten progressively worse and more challenging to deal with in Mazatlan, I did not know how Ron would react under this kind of pressure, but I must say that witnessing his behavior, I feel that I could not have picked a better or more fair partner who is looking out not only for his and his investors interest, but the interests of Mazatlan and everybody involved.

Conozco y he trabajado con Ronald Gollehon desde el año 1993. El y su familia se cambiaron a mi vecindario y nos conocimos muy bien. En 1995 le pedí a Ronald que me asesorara con las ventas de un desarrollo de lujo llamado Polo Reserve, en Littleton, Colorado USA.

A picture is posted of Tom Deadman & Ron Gollehon at the entrance to the Lighthouse/El Faro, so they cannot enter & enjoy the restaurant facilities on La Isla (after they have a combined investment of $4 million USD on La Isla !!!)
A letter was delivered to their home on La Isla by an employee of the "new management", which of course is Manuel Cristerna. Connie Deadman went to the Lighthouse/El Faro and it was confirmed that Manuel Cristerna had asked the letter to be typed in English. Of course, the coward, Manuel Cristerna, did not sign the letter. It reads as follows:

To: Tom Deadman & wife
Subject: Bad-mouthing
According to your actions we found out and had proof of you bad-mouthing making false accusations against Marina y Villas Coral and also have sent e-mails to our members. We also were informed and have pictures of you bothering our members that are residing in our property here in Isla Mazatlan. Therefore, yu are from this moment advised to keep away from our members when they are staying with us.
We will use our personal security to retrieve you from our premises and to keeping you away from talking to our members.

Any damages causes by your false accusations against us will be charged by legal procedures. Meanwhile, we ask you to behave and be good neighbors because we know that you are still not owner of the house you live in and you should not house Mr. Ron Gollehon because he caused and still causing problems here. He is not welcome to this property and his damages will be charged to you by accomplicing. We suggest you to fix your personal problems directly with the person you are with and you will save a lot of money.

Estimada Priscila,

No quiero pelear en lo absoluto. Fui a Mazatlán porque me gustó y quise invertir ahí. De hecho, yo invertí, junto con Ron Gollehon, e invertimos aproximadamente $ 2,6 millones de dólares en 2006 (y si incluimos gastos de operación, más de $ 3 millones de dólares)y firmamos una serie de contratos en bienes inmuebles. Ahora, lo que me gustaría es que nos entregaran lo que se nos prometió.

Manuel nos robo. Sergio de la Peña también nos robo. Hemos tratado de resolver estos problemas desde hace bastante tiempo (2 años y medio). Jorge Cortés estaba trabajando para Sergio de la Peña en Septiembre de 2007, hace 20 meses, mientras estábamos tratando de resolver algunos de los problemas con Sergio. Nosotros le explicamos a Jorge Cortés y Sergio de la Peña que queríamos resolver este problema como un negocio y no tener que convertirlo en un problema legal.

Recibí un mensaje de correo electrónico como respuesta de Jorge Cortés que nos dijo: "... Sergio de la Peña está cansado de tener el proyecto del 2 º nivel parado, esta renuente a celebrar juntas con ustedes y las noticias son las mismas. Si esta situación acaba en el tribunal, él ya ha examinado las posibles consecuencias y si tiene que ser así, él dice que esta preparado para ello. Necesito recordarle, con todo respeto que usted está en los EE.UU. y esto es México. El no tiene nada que perder y no puede ponerse peor de lo que ya esta, y no hay manera posible que pueda perjudicarlo a través de la prensa. Incluso si el Papa o los propios Bush llegan a Mazatlán y difaman a La Isla, eso a él ni siquiera le preocupa. Las Leyes en México son por escrito, no oral, como en los Estados Unidos, así que en primer lugar, le tomaría al menos 5 años para llegar a cualquier resolución. No hay jurado, no existe el depósito, no hay declaración final, no hay nada como el sistema judicial en los EE.UU.. Por lo tanto, no puede usar a nadie para declarar que Manuel era conocido como el Representante Legal o Ubaldo el Administrador o cualquier otra cosa. Usted no puede involucrar a ningún Abogado de Impuestos (tax attorney) no puede estar seguro de que alguien pueda asegurarse si esto o lo otro se hizo o no.
Créame, usted gastaría mucho dinero con resultados casi en cero ... "

Mi Socio en estas inversiones y yo nos hemos encontrado con esta actitud de “nomas que trates de pedir justicia Gringo” por parte de Sergio de la Peña, Manuel Cristerna, Ubaldo Rojas, David Bernal, Carlos Galindo, Federico Medrano y otros. Desde que comenzamos a ejercer un recurso legal en Mazatlán, mi socio, Ronald Gollehon, recibió un balazo en el cristal de su oficina y tuvo que cerrar su oficina, su vida y la de sus empleados fue amenazada ...
Ron Gollehon recientemente el (6 de marzo de 2009) fue atacado físicamente en la Isla en una cochera de una casa privada, por parte de los empleados de Manuel Cristerna, le fracturaron una costilla, y cualquier persona que se relacione con Ron Gollehon ahí en La Isla los amenazan y les dicen que los servicios de gas y electricidad de sus departamentos se les suspenderá si hablan con él.

¿Qué están haciendo las buenas personas de Mazatlán para ayudar? Y, sí, yo creo que hay muchas personas buenas en Mazatlán. Pero si la gente buena no toma medidas, y permite que lo malo tome control así será (por lo menos por un tiempo).

Cuando yo estaba en Mazatlán el verano pasado, vi el contrato #596 que fue firmado por Manuel Cristerna. Mi socio ha hablado con un número de personas que firmaron estos contratos. Cada una de estas personas tiene su propia historia, pero en cada caso, la historia es
que Manuel Cristerna cometido fraude en ellos. Creo que el contrato #596 representa el número de personas que firmaron contratos con Marina y Villas Coral, SA de CV, que Manuel Cristerna ha defraudado a través de su otra empresa, Isla y Marina, SA de CV Como ya he dicho, he visto el contrato el pasado verano. Creo que puede haber muchas más personas que han sido defraudados hasta el momento. Lo mismo ocurre con Sergio de la Peña y su compañía, Ralpha Compañía, SA de CV, se les va a permitir a Manuel Cristerna y Sergio de la Peña que continúen defraudando a 700 personas, 900 personas, o más? Como dije, no quiero pelear, quiero una resolución, y no quiero continuar hablando de ello por los próximos 100 años, me gustaría que se resolviera el día de hoy. Resolver los problemas pone fin a la mala prensa. Permitir que se agranden los problemas da píe a mas mala prensa.

Ron Gollehon asistió a una reunión hace una semana (7 de marzo de 2009) con su socio, Tomás Pluma, y los representantes de la Marina Mazatlán, entre ellos el Director del Proyecto, Luis Barba, Ricardo González, un abogado de Marina Mazatlán; Saúl López, que parece ser tiene la posibilidad de poder hablar directamente con los altos ejecutivos en Culiacán, y con personal administrativo de Marina Mazatlán.

Hemos intentado con diligencia contribuir para luchar contra este fraude para todos aquellos involucrados, comenzando hace 2 años, cuando se sospecho del gran fraude en la Isla. Ron y su ayudante, Sra.. Ana M. de Smith, se reunieron en más de una vez con Luis Barba y su jefe, Trigio, que depende directamente del Sr. Ernesto Echavarria en Culiacán. La información ha sido compartida con ellos que son los que podrían haber hecho algo de inmediato por Marina Mazatlán, como los desarrolladores de este gran proyecto maestro de varios miles de millones de dólares, Marina Mazatlán es el que ha llamado a La Isla "la joya de la corona" y "la única isla privada en un puerto deportivo en Mexico ".

¿Cuál fue el resultado de estos esfuerzos? algo peor de lo que podríamos haber imaginado! Manuel Cristerna y Ubaldo Rojas (sobrino de Sergio de la Peña) se robaron $ 400,000 dólares de un depósito por los lotes 37/38 por parte de Ron y Kim Gollehon donde pensaban construir las casa de sus sueños y quedarse a vivir permanentemente en La Isla. La casa nunca fue construida debido a un incumplimiento de contrato por Manuel Cristerna e increíblemente, después de haber sido informado de ello y el fraude que se cometió por el Sr. Cristerna en La Isla, Marina Mazatlán vendido estos lotes a una familia de España, incluso después de que Gollehon les dijo a las personas del departamento de ventas de Marina Mazatlán que tenían un contrato y había depositado $400,000 dólares con el Sr. Manuel Cristerna y Ubaldo Rojas! Pero aún así, Marina Mazatlán permite que Manuel Cristerna habrá otra vez una oficina en La Isla, dejándolo ser a él "el desarrollador" de la Isla, para seguir llevando a cabo contratos y tomar el dinero, y luego seguir adelante y vender las propiedades otra vez. Ellos no parecen estar ayudando a la situación. De hecho, parecen estar haciendo el problema peor.

Ayer leí (14 de marzo de 2009) en www.mazatlanfraud.blogspotcom que Luis Barba en septiembre de 2007 (1 ½ años) se le está informando en un mensaje de correo electrónico que Manuel Cristerna le había comentando a algunos de sus amigos que había sobornado a Luis Barba con “regalitos”. Si esto es cierto, podría explicarse por qué durante los últimos 2 años, Luis Barba ha sido renuente a reunirse, hablar por teléfono, o incluso intercambiar mensajes de correo electrónico con mi socio!

El resultado de la reunión de Ron Gollehon del día 7 de marzo de 2009 con el Sr. Pluma y los funcionarios de la Marina Mazatlán termino siendo como una broma. Después de que Ron salió de la reunión, después de que le aseguraron que estaría seguro dentro de La Isla, los mismos sujetos del Faro que lo habían atacado, trataron de volverlo a agredir. Ron tuvo que llamar a la policía para que lo escoltaran y así pudiera tomar sus pertenencias personales y no ya no ha regresado. ¿Hay seguridad en la Isla? LO DUDO. Y, si $ 2,6 millones de dólares se invirtieron en propiedades inmobiliarias en la isla, ¿Por qué no es seguro para Ron entrar a la Isla donde se invirtió tanto dinero?

A Manuel se le permitió abrir otra vez una oficina en La Isla y presentarse como el "desarrollador" de la isla. Como lo señalé anteriormente, incluso después de que a los funcionarios y los propietarios de la isla, los hicimos conscientes del fraude que estaba pasando, Manuel ha sido capaz otra vez de tener ahí una oficina y pretenden ser el gran desarrollador de la isla y continuar con el fraude hacia extranjeros incautos. El no hacer nada permite que este fraude continúe. Usted no quiere que la gente buena de Mazatlán sufra por esta mala publicidad. Estoy de acuerdo. La solución es, solucionar el problema. De esta forma nadie tiene nada malo que decir.

Ron Gollehon me ha dicho que usted y su padre son muy respetable y gente de negocios con mucha credibilidad, y que también están siendo perjudicados por este continuo robo, el fraude y la intimidación. Entonces, como mexicanos, y no como nosotros "gringos", por favor
ayúdenos. Vamos todos a la oficina de Marina Mazatlán en Culiacán. O vamos a reunirnos con ellos en Mazatlán. Vamos a reunirnos con el jefe de los ejecutivos! Me gustaría pensar que al Sr. Ernesto Echavarría le gustaría que la mala publicidad se detuviera. La ayuda de él podría poner fin a muchos de los problemas. Podría usted organizar una junta con él ... no a sus empleados que solo nos dan "palabrería" pero en realidad no toman decisiones. Nosotros, como ustedes, somos gente de negocios que tenemos por experiencia que la única manera de resolver los problemas es hablando con los que tienen el poder y tomas las decisiones. Hasta que, Marina Mazatlán, y otros no se comprometan a limpiar la Isla, no creo que con 596 contratos por ahí, las noticias en la prensa puedan mejorar.

Si el problema no se resuelve, entonces se sabe que las personas que fueron engañados van a hablar. La luz de la verdad siempre triunfa sobre el mal, pero es posible que el triunfo llegue a lo largo de los años y a través de la prensa. Eso sería una vergüenza. Creo que entre mas tiempo tarde la justicia, más y más personas hablarán.

Basándome en el contrato # 596 el verano pasado, yo creo que hay una gran cantidad de personas que han sido engañadas y que pueden hablar. Si se continúa con este fraude, me sorprendería que la mala publicidad de la prensa local se limitara a un blog. Esto podría muy bien llegar a ser noticia en los medios de comunicación en todo el mundo y llegar así atraer la atención de los gobernadores, senadores, políticos y otros ... y a las líneas de cruceros, líneas aéreas, y otros que dan servicio a Mazatlán. Esto sería una lástima, porque una acción rápida puede detener probablemente mala publicidad y resolver el problema.

Agilizar este proceso puede llevarse a cabo por los funcionarios y buena gente en Mazatlán, incluyendo su padre y su socio. Espero que ellos quieran ayudar antes de que la prensa comience a dispersar esta mala publicidad en los EE.UU., Canadá, y los demás países cuyos ciudadanos han sido defraudados al tratar de comprar propiedad de estas pocas personas sin escrúpulos en Mazatlán.

I don’t want to fight at all. I came to Mazatlan because I liked it and wanted to invest in it. In fact, I did invest, and along with Ron Gollehon, we put up approximately $2.6 million USD in 2006 (with operation costs, over $3 million USD) and signed a number of contracts for real estate. Now what I would like is to get what we are entitled to.

Manuel stole from us. Sergio de la Pena stole from us also. We have been trying to resolve these issues for quite some time (2 ½ years). Jorge Cortes was working for Sergio de la Pena back in September of 2007, 20 months ago, while we were attempting to resolve some of the issues with Sergio. We had explained to Jorge Cortes and Sergio de la Pena that we wanted to resolve his as a business challenge and not have it become a legal problem.

I received an email back from Jorge Cortes that said, “…Sergio de la Pena is tired of having the project stocked in 2nd level and is also reluctant to have meetings and the news are all the same. If this situation ends up in court he has reviewed any possible consequence and he’s willing to go for it. I need to remind you, with all do respect that you are in the US and this is Mexico. He’s got nothing to loose cause it cannot get worst and there is no possible way you can harm him with the press. Even if the Pope or the Bushes themselves came down to Mazatlan and badmouthed the island, again he is not even concerned. Law in Mexico is written, not oral like in the states so, first of all it would take you at least 5 years to get to any resolution. There is no jury, there is no deposition, there is no final statement, there is nothing like the judicial system in the US. Therefore you cannot use anybody to testify that Manuel was known as the representative or Ubaldo being the bookkeeper or anything else. You can’t get any tax attorneys involved, you can’t make sure or have anybody to review if this or that has been done. Believe me, you will spend lots of money with nearly zero results...”

My partner in these investments and I have run into this “just try to get justice down here, Gringo” attitude quite a bit from such people as Sergio de la Pena, Manuel Cristerna, Ubaldo Rojas, David Bernal, Carlos Galindo, Federico Medrano and others. Since we began to pursue a legal remedy in Mazatlan, my partner, Ron Gollehon, has had a bullet hole shot through his office glass and had to close his office; his employees lives were threatened...as was his life; Ron has recently (March 6, 2009) been physically assaulted in a private driveway on La Isla by employees of Manuel Cristerna, resulting in cracked ribs; and people who associate with Ron have been threatened and told that the gas and electric to their homes will be shut off if they talk to him anymore. What are the good people of Mazatlan doing to help? And, yes, I do believe there are many good people in Mazatlan. But good people who do not take action allow evil to rule (at least for awhile).

When I was in Mazatlan last summer, I believe that I saw a contract #596 that was signed by Manuel Cristerna. My partner has talked with a number of the people who signed these contracts. Each of these people has their own story, but in each case, the common story is that Manuel Cristerna committed FRAUD on them. I believe that contract #596 represented the number of people that signed contracts with Marina y Villas Coral S.A. de C.V., that Manuel Cristerna has defrauded through his other company, Isla y Marina, S.A. de20C.V.

As I mentioned, I saw this contract last summer. I believe there may be many more people who have been defrauded by this time. The same goes for Sergio de la Pena and his company, Ralpha Compania, S.A. de C.V. Are Manuel Cristerna and Sergio de la Pena going to be allowed to continue to defraud 700 people,900 people, or more? Like I said, I don’t want to fight, I would like a resolution, but I don’t want to talk about it for the next 100years, I would like it today. Resolving issues puts an end to bad press. Letting issues linger creates more bad press.

Ron Gollehon sat in a meeting one week ago (March 7, 2009) with your partner,Tomas Pluma, and representatives of Marina Mazatlan, including the Project Director, Luis Barba; Ricardo Gonzales, an attorney for Marina Mazatlan; Saul Lopez , who appears to be able to talk directly with the Senior Executives in Culiacan; and a couple of other administrative people for Marina Mazatlan.

We have tried diligently to help fight this fraud for everyone, beginning 2 years ago, when we highly suspected that fraud was being committed on La Isla. Ron and his assistant, Sra. Ana M. de Smith, met more than once with Luis Barba and his boss, Trijio, who reports directly to Ernesto Escheverria in Culiacan. Information was shared with them where it could have immediately been acted upon by Marina Mazatlan, as Master Developers of this multi-billion dollar resort project, in which Marina Mazatlan has called La Isla "the Crown Jewel" and "the only private island in a marina in Mexico".

What was the result of these efforts? Even worse than we could have imagined! Manuel Cristerna and Ubaldo Rojas (nephew of Sergio de la Pena) had taken $400,000 USD as a deposit on lots 37/38 in 2006 from Ron and Kim Gollehon for their dream home that they were going to build and live in permanently on La Isla. The home was never built due to a breach of contract by Manuel Cristerna; and, unbelievably, after being informed of this and the fraud being committed by Sr. Cristerna on La Isla, Marina Mazatlan sold these lots to a family from Spain, even after the Gollehon’s told Marina Mazatlan’s sales people that they had a contract and had deposited the $400,000 USD with Sr. Cristerna and Sr. Rojas! Marina Mazatlan allows Manuel Cristerna to office and operate on La Isla, to hold himself out as “the builder” of the island, to enter into contracts and take people’s money, and then they go ahead and sell the property another time. They do not appear to be helping the situation. In fact, they appear to be making the problem worse.

I now read yesterday (March 14, 2009) at www.mazatlanfraud.blogspotcom that Luis Barba in September of 2007 (1 ½ years ago) was informed in an email that Manuel was telling to his friends that Luis Barba had being taking bribes from Manuel Cristerna. If this is true, it might explain why for the past 2 years, Luis Barba has been unwilling to meet, talk on the phone, or even exchange emails with my partner!

The result of Ron Gollehon’s meeting on March 7, 2009 with your partner and the Marina Mazatlan officials appears to be somewhat of a joke. When Ron left the meeting, after assurances that he would be safe on La Isla, he was again confronted by the same person from the Lighthouse that had previously assaulted him. Ron had to arrange for a police escort off of La Isla. He took his personal belongings and has not returned. Safety on La Isla? Doubtful. And $2.6 million of our money is invested in real estate on La Isla. Why is it not safe for Ron to be where that money is invested?

Manuel was allowed to have an office on La Isla and to hold himself out as the “builder” on the island. As stated above, even after we made officials and the owners of the island aware of the fraud that was going on, Manuel has been able to continue to have an office and claim to be the big builder on the island and continue his theft and fraud of unsuspecting foreigners. Doing nothing allows this fraud to continue. You do not want the good people of Mazatlan to suffer with bad press. I agree. The resolution is to fix the problem. That way no one has anything bad to say.

Ron Gollehon has told me that he believes you and your father are very credible and respectable business people; and, that you are also being hurt by this continuing theft, fraud, and intimidation. Then, as Mexicans, not “Gringo’s’ like us, please help. Let’s all go to Marina Mazatlan’s office in Culiacan. Or let’s meet with them in Mazatlan. Let's have a meeting with the head Executives! I would think that Ernesto Escheverria would like the bad news to stop. His help could put an end to many of the problems. Can’t you arrange a meeting with him…not his employees who give us “lip service” but don’t really make decisions. We, as you, are experienced business people and know that the way to resolve this is with those in power, the decision makers. Until you, Marina Mazatlan, and others make a commitment to clean up La Isla, it would certainly seem to me that with 596 contracts out there, the news and the press are likely to get worse and not better If the problem is not fixed, then you know that people who were cheated will speak out. Right always triumphs over evil, but it may triumph over years and through the press. That would be a shame. I believe the longer it takes for justice, the more and more people will speak out and the louder they will become.

Based on contract #596 last summer, I would think there are a lot of people who have been cheated and who may speak out. If it builds momentum, I would be surprised if the bad press will be limited to a blog. It could very well get picked up by the main stream media worldwide and come to the attention of governors, senators, and other politicians...and to cruise lines, air lines, and others that service Mazatlan. This would be a shame, because swift action can probably limit bad press and resolve problems.

Expediting this process can be done by the officials and good people in Mazatlan, including your father and your partner. I hope they help before some press picks up on this challenge and it starts making the main stream news in the U.S., Canada, and the other countries whose citizens have been defrauded while attempting to purchase property from a few unscrupulous people in Mazatlan.

Kimberly Gollehon invested $270,000 USD in January 2006 to buy Home #14 on La Isla. She was to pay the balance when the home was completed, which was to be 6-8 months.

3 years later, the home is still not completed and it is being used for storage. Manuel Cristerna's "goons" on the golf carts kept her husband away from the home, when he tried to see the condition of the home.

Kimberly also reports that Manuel Cristerna & Ubaldo Rojas had stolen $50,000 USD of hers from her original deposits and put the $50,000 USD in a separate company to hide it.

I believe this exchange of emails is good for 2 reasons: 1. It shows that there are honest and reputable businesses such as Isla Mazatlan Golden Resort on La Isla...

However this blogspot disagrees that Marina y Villas is an honest company; this company was originally owned by the wife of Sergio de la Pena; Manuel Cristerna; and Ubaldo Rojas, the nephew of Sergio de la Pena. This company did not have deeds to the homes and condominiums when they took millions from unsuspecting foreigners...now, who owns Marina y Villas Coral, S.A. de C.V.???...all FOREIGNERS know that Manuel Cristerna is the boss at El Faro/Lighthouse at this moment. Even though Manuel is "on the run", it appears he is running this business by his cell phone. We have been told that Manuel has many of the old people back working for him, just as he did in 2006, when he was stealing millions from Foreigners!

IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THERE ARE ARREST WARRANTS NOW ISSUED FOR SERGIO DE LA PENA AND UBALDO ROJAS. MANUEL CRISTERNA HAS ALREADY BEEN IN JAIL...HOPEFULLY HE WILL BE PUT IN JAIL AGAIN !

Si fuera un assunto de solomente un hombre enganoso no seria tan grande este problema. Pero el problema que yo encuentro segun la experiencia mia es que hay muchos hombres (personas) iqual como Manuel Cristerna. Cada persona con quien yo he tenido contacto durante a construccion y padsado la construccion de mi casa eran metirosos. La persona quien era el gerente de los trabajeros era mentiroso, Los avocados trabajando por Manuel eran mentirosos, el arquitecto es mentiroso, varios de los agentes trabajando por Cristerna y comunicando conmigo durante la construction de la casa, eran mentirosos. Siempre estaban tratando quitar mas dinero de mi para pagar por por trabajo todovia no hecho y por materiales de bajo calidad y no de aquerdo con el contracto. La gente en Marina Mazatlan ayudaban a Manuel Cristerna ganar dinero de mi. Yo tuve que pagar a Marina Mazatlan para las deudas de Manuel para el tereno. Todas estas cosas son ejemplos tipicas de una gente enganosa.

Lo que estoy tratando decir es que no es solo una persona, y no es solomente una compania.

Estoy de acuerdo que hay muchas personas buenas en Mejico, pero el modo de pensar es que si un extranjero or qualquier ortra persona esta mal tradado, no es problema de ellos.

Es dificil para una persona quien no es de Mejico saver como Manuel Cristerna todavia esta libre despues de hacer lo que el y muchos otros conectado con el han hecho.

Si la gente de Mazatlan no quieren recibir la misma mancha por las malas cosas que hacen personas como Manuel, tienen que metirse y mandar que personas como Cristerna no andan sobre la ley. Porque si ellos andan sobre la ley tiene el efecto significar que so sociadad de Mazatlan (Mejico) no tienen mucho respecto por la ley de su pais.

El problema no es mio, no es de las otras victimas, ni es totalmente el problema de los malvados como Manuel Cristerna. El problema mayor es con la gente general y los con authoridad quienes permitan a los malvados andar sobre las leys del pais.

If it were only a problem of one dishonest man it would not be such a large problem. But, the problem that I have encountered is that there are many people the same as Manuel Cristerna. Each person that I have had contact with during the construction and after the construction of my house was a liar. The supervisor of the workers was a liar, the lawyers working for Manuel were liars, the architect over the construction of my house is a liar, and the customer interface agents working for Manuel were liars. They were always trying to get more money from me for work that had not been completed etc. I had to pay Marina Mazatlan for Manuel’s bills that he owed that were not mine. But they knew they could get the money from me if I wanted to get a clear ownership of the land where my house was built. All these are typical examples of a dishonest people.

What I am trying to say is that it is not only one bad person, and it is not only one bad company.

I agree that there are many good people in Mexico, but all to often the way of thinking is that the problem was that of a foreigner or someone else and therefore not a problem for them.

It is difficult for a person who is not a Mexican to understand how Manuel Cristerna is still free after doing what he and others connected with him have done.

If the people of Mazatlan do not want to have the same black mark on them for the bad things that people like Manuel have done, then they have to get involved and demand that persons like Cristerna do not walk above the law. Because if they are above the law it has the effect of showing that the people of Mazatlan (Mexico) do not have any respect for the law of their country.

The problem is not mine, nor that of the other victims. It is not how we tell others about our bad experiences. Nor is it totally the problem of the bad guys like Manuel Cristerna. The major problem is with the general people and authorities of the land who permit such bad guys to go free above the laws of the country.

All the good can be blotted out by a few bad guys. Don’t forget that. What others want to say is; “We had a bad experience, but the bad guys were punished by the laws of the land, and justice was served.” But so far justice has not been served. Justice not served will always be a blemish on the entire city and country.

A am glad more and more information is getting out to the public about how bad Manuel and his friends are. It is a black mark on Mazatlan and certainly for all developers there. I have been spreading the word. Between these guys and all the bad news about the drug wars going on in Mexico most people that I have contact with have definitely changed their minds about investing in Mexico and even visiting Mexico. Business there is going to get a lot worse as the results of the fraud, lies and theft are propagated. I know that I have talked to hundreds of people. Some of them already know the problems there and others are too frightened to even visit Mexico.

You would think that the authorities there and the good business people would make a quick end to Manuel Cristerna and his gang. It will be a long time now before foreign investors and retirees will overcome this bad view about living and doing business in Mexico. Every time I talk to people now in the USA about my house there, they always ask me if it is safe to live there. I can’t get any of my friends to even come and visit me in Mazatlan. Unfortunately these bad stories will be propagated and told and retold for generations and many people will carry a fear of Mexico for many many years and believe it is totally lawless there. This is probably not too far from the truth. It is really too bad for Mazatlan, Mexico, and even those of use who have wanted to bring our money and retirement to that area. Lack of Safety on La Isla

I spoke with Ron Gollehon and separately, to his business associate, who accompanied Ron to La Isla, They had to be escorted by Police.

It is apparent that security on La Isla, Marina Mazatlan is non-existent, or Ron
would not have been attacked in the driveway of my house by 2 young Mexicans who
followed him from El Faro early last night.

Also since December, many of us English speaking resident on La Isla have been
intimidated by these young Mexicans from El Faro.

When we go for walks on the Isla, we are followed. Also they continually post
pictures of Ron Gollehon and me on the front door of El Faro as if we are bad
people.

Physical Assault by El Faro employees on Private Property on La Isla

I received an email March 6 (Friday) from Ron Gollehon. He was physically assaulted, with injuries to his ribs, by employees of El Faro. Specifically the employees on golf carts that follow Tom Deadman and Ron Gollehon whenever they are outside on La Isla.

Mr. Gollehon had to fight the employees for his own safety, as they also tried to take his cell phone and wallet. They would not let him enter the Deadman home. He was able to lock himself inside his car and get away before more damage was done.

The physical assault happened on March 5th at 6PM, as he pulled into the driveway of Tom and Connie Deadman's home, Home #31.

On March 6, 2009 at approximately 10AM, after assurances by officials of Marina Mazatlan that he would be safe, Ron Gollehon was riding with another businessman in his auto. They were stopped by the same person that attacked Ron Gollehon. They were not allowed to drive down the street past El Faro.

3 Police cars were called and they had to escort Mr. Gollehon and his friend.

It appears this is just more harrassment by Manuel Cristerna.

What is Marina Mazatlan going to do to help?
It appears they do not care at all about people's safety in their resort project.

otro hombre de negocios en su auto. Fueron detenidos por la misma persona
que atacaron a Ron Gollehon. No se les permitió rebajar el calle El Faro pasado.

3 coches de policía fueron llamados y que tuvieron que escoltar Sr. Gollehon y su
amigo.

Al parecer, esto es sólo más acoso por Manuel Cristerna.

¿Qué es la Marina Mazatlán va a hacer para ayudar?
Al parecer no les importa en absoluto sobre la seguridad de las personas en su
recurrir proyecto.

Home #30, La Isla...more money stolen and more fraud

I am a partner with Kim Gollehon.
We bought Home #30 in 2006.
We put a deposit of $225,000 USD and it was supposed to be completed by December 2006.
This was to be my home on La Isla.

3 years from the time I invested my money, the home was finally completed...but the amazing truth is: Manuel Cristerna sold it to a Mexican Judge and kept all of the money...almost 1/4 million $ gone !....No interest; no payback of money; no home !!!

This was only 2 days after he had gotten out of jail from stealing $400,000 USD from Ron and Kim Gollehon (they never got this money).

Manuel met with me in 2007 and tried to lie to me about Ron Gollehon.
I have seen all of the contracts and canceled checks & wires sent to Manuel Cristerna, Ubaldo Rojas and Sergio de la Pena.

Gollehon's group invested over $2.5 million with these thieves and have not received any of the homes or condominiums that they invested in.

I thought Mexico was a safe place to invest. A friend of mine was going to invest $5 million in Mexico...I told him not to do it !

This has been an absolute nightmare for all of us Americans, who trusted that the Special Master Trust set up by Marina Mazatlan would protect us from crooked builders.

We have been partners with Ron and Kim Gollehon for many years and have been successful in our real estate investments with them. Ron Gollehon has very capably managed our real estate investments.

We traveled to Mazatlan in 2006 and were told many lies by Manuel Cristerna.
We invested in 6 homes and 24 condominiums (2 buildings) on La Isla with the Gollehons and other business associates.

Mr. Gollehon has worked for 2 years without pay to try and get all of our money back.

We believe Manuel Cristerna should be in jail ! He is a liar and a thief !

Why will none of the authorities in Sinaloa, the City of Mazatlan, or the developers of Marina Mazatlan help all of us who have been defrauded? This shows very poorly for the Country of Mexico. Beware, if you are going to invest !

I also received this in an email yesterday.
I will be posting what has happened to my associates and me since 2006, after investing approximately $2.5 million with Manuel Cristerna, Ubaldo Rojas & Sergio de la Pena.

I will tell you this: since Manuel Cristerna got out of jail on our 1st fraud & theft charge, he immediately double sold one of my business associates homes on La Isla and pocketed the money.

Manuel Cristerna and Playa Maria (now Torrenza)

Update. We were just over to Torrenza, formally known as Playa Maria.
Two days ago this property was sold to the owner of Torrenza. The police came
and forcibly removed Manuel from the property. They now have an armed guard
at the front of the building and on the beach. The people there say that
Manuel is back over on the Island. I will know more about that tomorrow and

We too have been taken by Manuel and Sergio de la Pena. They were to build a home for us and never did. They also sold the same time at the unbuilt home to at least one other party that we know. They have not offered to build the home nor give us back our money and we have been banned from the island and any other properties in which they say they own.

Thank you - these people have to be stopped. We hear Torrenza is now a part of the whole scheme for the future of Playa Maria (which was owned by the island people also).

Es detenido el viernes dentro de la Marina Mazatlán Manuel Cristerna Velázquez, director del Proyecto Crown Bay

Por la presunta venta fraudulenta de bienes raíces en Isla Mazatlán, fue detenido el viernes dentro de la Marina Mazatlán Manuel Cristerna Velázquez, director del Proyecto Crown Bay, en respuesta a una querella presentada por el inversionista estadounidense Ron Gollehon.
El supuesto fraude señalado en esta querella suma los 400 mil dólares, pero el afectado en sus varias demandas presentadas indica que dio pagos que nunca le fueron devueltos por 2 millones 500 mil dólares, según explica su abogado defensor José Andrés Osuna Lizárraga.
Desde hace unos meses un grupo de personas defraudadas inició el trámite de 10 querellas en contra de Cristerna Velázquez y Ubaldo Rojas, y una más en contra de Sergio de la Peña.
Ello, por la supuesta venta de condominios y casas que jamás se construyeron, tiempos compartidos de villas jamás construidas y reventa de terrenos en más de dos o tres ocasiones, en un fraude que podría sumar varios millones de dólares, con cientos de afectados.
La querella que procedió es la asentada en el expediente 362/2008 del Juzgado Cuarto penal, en afectación de la empresa Summerlin S.A. de C.V. en la venta de los lotes 37 y 38 en Isla Mazatlán. En este caso particular, pese a que Gollehon hizo sus pagos hay varios dueños de los lotes.
Cristerna Velázquez fue remitido al Centro de Ejecución de las Consecuencias Jurídicas del Delito, en espera de su declaración preparatoria, y se informó que en el transcurso de la noche saldría libre bajo fianza.
Los empleados trabajaron durante el viernes para sacar todas las cosas de sus oficinas y de las casas, incluso a la medianoche. La mayoría de los muebles fueron trasladados a la calle y luego en otras casas en la Isla.
El fraude inmobiliario, que tiene alcances aún no cuantificados, fue notificado al Alcalde Jorge Abel López Sánchez en una reunión privada en su oficina en el Ayuntamiento, el 9 de diciembre, donde los afectados mostraron documentación de los pagos realizados y, sin embargo, la empresa no respondió ni devolvió el dinero.
